American Heroes Equine Connection (AHEC) is expanding into nine states, taking its equine-led recovery model national. The nonprofit pairs veterans and first responders with horses in structured, judgment-free sessions designed to rebuild presence, regulation, and trust.

Clinical partners report measurable reductions in self-reported anxiety and improved sleep markers within six weeks of consistent participation.

"We don't pathologize. We don't rush. The horses do the work," AHEC executive director Patricia Nguyen said.
